Why do I need to register my domestic worker for UIF and COIDA?

Domestic Workers Employment Compliance Registration means that if any domestic worker employed by you works more than 24 hours per month, you must register them with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and as of the 1st of March 2021 with Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
  • Registering a domestic worker – which is every employer’s responsibility and must be done as soon as employment begins, but can be done very easily with Payroll SA. 
  • The employer will be held fully responsible and not the employee.
  • Failing to do so is illegal and could lead to fines and, imprisonment, or both.
Domestic Workers Employment Compliance Registration is mandatory if any domestic worker is employed by you and works more than 24 hours per month. You must register them with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and as of the 1st of March 2021 with Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
Please note that it is the client’s responsibility to make all payments to UIF.  (Unemployment Insurance Fund).

DEC Registration package includes: Domestic UIF

Registration fee: R359.37 per employee, once-off.

Monthly fee: R87.12 per employee per month.

Does not include 2% UIF and COIDA payment

The DEC Registration Package includes:

  • UIF registration.

  • Domestic workers employment contract.
  • Providing monthly payslips.

Step 1

Start the DEC Registration (Domestic UIF Registration), and you will be redirected to the second step of the application.

Step 2

Choose the number of domestic workers you want to register.

Step 3

Sign the DEC Registration T&C’s and complete your online payment.

Step 4

Complete the employer, and the domestic worker’s details form, and we’ll do the rest for you.
